Getting Warmer, Back in the Mid 90s Today

July 8, 2009 - 5:26am

More sunshine and warmer temperatures are in store for us today, with highs reaching back into the mid 90s. We'll keep a slight chance of rain today, mainly South and East of a line from Nacogdoches to Center and North near I-30 from leftover Oklahoma showers. The upper level "summer time" high will strengthen and move eastward over our area late this week bringing temperatures awfully close to 100 degrees as we head into the weekend and early next week.

***BURN BAN UPDATE***
Angelina county issued a burn ban on Tuesday. This brings the total number of East Texas counties under Outdoor Burning Bans to 6. They are as follows: Trinity, Houston, Anderson, Angelina, San Augustine and Sabine. More counties will likely follow during the next week or so as there is very little if any hope for significant rainfall and temperatures will be heating up to near 100 increasing evaporation.
