(KETK) - Tyler Tx — East Texas had some good rain on Friday. Here are the totals.
After a cloudy Saturday, a warm up is coming to our area. Here’s what we are forecasting over the next few days.
High pressure will dominate much of Texas on Sunday. This high will be right on top of East Texas, meaning that temperatures will be in the upper 40s to low 50s and with our winds remaining north/northwest. With northerly winds, it sends cooler temperatures.
Monday, this high pressure ridge will slide to the East and set up along the Gulf of Mexico. This is when our winds will shift to the west/southwest. On Monday, expect temperatures to climb into the upper 50s to lower 60s—near normal for this time of the year.
Tuesday – Thursday
Temperatures start to increase into the upper 60s and near 70 by Thursday for East Texas. Note below the high pressure center now off to our East. With this setup, winds will turn more out of the south/southwest, allowing moisture to flow in from the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. The wind speeds will pick up as well to about 10-15 miles per hour by Thursday. All of this is ahead of our next storm system.
The forecast models are predicting different scenarios for what will happen Friday through the weekend. It is also too far out to make an accurate forecast. This week, the models will have a better handle on what will happen, and we’ll talk about that in our next blog post.
