(KETK) - Tyler Tx — The cold front has now moved through our area.
Here's what you can expect the next 48 hours:
Skies will clear out across East Texas and as early as 7PM, we could be below freezing in many areas in East Texas. A Hard Freeze Warning goes into effect beginning at 2AM Monday morning. A very cold night with lows into the teens area-wide. North winds will make it feel like the single digits tonight. If you have to be outdoors, be sure to bundle up and protect your house pipes, plants, people, and pets. We could possibly break the record low temperatures for Monday, January 6.
Tyler: 15°, 1972
Longview: 16°, 1959
Lufkin: 18°, 1947
Here are the forecasted lows tonight.
High pressure will be in control for East Texas. We will have lots of sunshine. But it will a very cold day with north winds and highs only in the upper 20s and lower 30s. Records could be broken again for the lowest daytime high temperature.
The record high minimum temperatures for Monday, January 6:
Tyler: 31°, 1910
Longview: 30°, 1940
Lufkin: 37°, 1910
With afternoon temperatures not making it above freezing, temperatures will quickly fall into the lower to middle 20s by evening. If there is any good news with Monday night, it's that a southerly wind flow will be with us by early Tuesday morning. It is unlikely that the overnight lows will be warmer than Sunday night. Nevertheless, another cold and possibly record breaking night for our area.

Lufkin: 16°, 1910
A mostly sunny day for our area with a nice warming trend beginning. Highs Tuesday afternoon will be in the upper 30s and lower 40s. South winds will pick up and that will give us a very nice afternoon.
